Fresno Hot Rocks Massage

Another massage option we offer is hot stone massage. This process involves the use of heated, smooth stones. During this process, our team will place the hot stones on set points on the body and will sometimes hold the stones while providing the massage. The localized weight and heat of these stones helps to relax and warm the muscles, which allows the massage therapist to apply much deeper pressure to the areas without causing any level of discomfort.
The Basics of Hot Stone Massage
The differentiator of hot stone massage is that it uses heated stones. The most common stone used is called basalt river rocks because they are smooth and able to retain heat properly.
To prepare for the treatment, our massage therapists will heat the stones using a professional heater until they have reached a specific range of temperatures, usually between 110- and 130-degrees Fahrenheit. If you find a massage therapist that uses slow cookers, hot plates, ovens, or microwaves, avoid this as it can result in serious burns.
Our team is properly trained to use anatomy to guide the placement of your stones, but in some cases, we will use an arrangement that helps to energetically balance the body and mind.
During the actual massage process, the hot stones are combined with Swedish massage techniques, which include rolling, kneading, and long strokes.

The Benefits of Hot Stone Massage
Some people describe this massage technique as being deeply relaxing and comforting. The warmth is considered soothing for those who often feel chilly.
The stones heat will help to relax the muscles, which allows your therapist to work deeper into the muscles while using a much lighter touch and pressure. Some of the conditions we commonly treat using hot stone massage include insomnia, anxiety, depression, and back pain.
